Honey Stewed Apples Ingredients

These stewed apples are honey infused. The synergy of the white wine, sweet honey, lemon and fresh sage is simply award winning! Perfect for a crisp autumn afternoon snack or dessert to share with the one you love!

Ingredients:

Ingredients.
  • Honeycrisp Apples: We picked up a fresh load of Honeycrisp apples from the farmers market over the weekend. You can use most any type of apple for this stewed apple recipe, except for the “mealy” textured apples, such as Golden and Red Delicious, for instance. These “mealy” types of apples may be pleasant when eaten raw, but when applied to heat they really don’t hold up too well. So, stick with tart apples like Honeycrisp for this stewed apple recipe!
  • Raw Honey: The industrious honeybees work very hard to make honey. They visit millions of flower blossoms to produce one simple pound of honey. Enjoy every bite!
  • White Wine: This is the ingredient that sends this recipe into award winning territory. We use a crisp and tangy Sauvigon Blanc. And let us tell you that it works exceptionally well. The blend, the depth, it’s just stunning!
  • Lemon Juice & Zest: Flavor enhancer and adds a refreshing zip!
  • Fresh Sage: Fresh sage from the garden is the perfect addition to this stewed apple recipe.
  • Butter: Grass fed butter creamy and full of omegas!

As always, quality ingredients bring more to the table.

Directions:

Firstly, peel and cut apple slices in a uniform manner.

Once the apples are nicely browned, add in the wine and raw honey. Then squeeze in the lemon juice and add the zest. Stir everything and throw in some fresh pieces of sage.

At this point, the skillet should steam up and bubble into a gorgeous simmer, this is good, everything’s cooking together nicely!

Look at that gorgeous simmer!

After that, remove the cast iron skillet from heat, the cookware is hot enough to reduce the wine, honey, sage and lemon down into a beautiful glaze to coat the stewed apples thoroughly without anymore additional heat.

As shown above, the glaze will thicken naturally due to the simmer and provide a grade A dessert that looks like it’s out of a magazine!

Lastly, serve in a bowl with a couple fresh sprigs of sage and enjoy!
