Seven Days of Prayer
Seven Days of Prayer
This is a special guide for seven days of prayer. This one-week biblical encouragement will draw you closer to the Father during the busy week ahead!
In this ever-changing world, we are constantly pulled from one thing to the next. It can be difficult to slow down and take the very needed precious moments to pray and speak to God.
Overall, unless we make the deliberate effort to be with Him and study His word, the time just disappears, and as a result, we are left void and starved.
Like a dried-up plant, desperate for water.
But when we seek God in prayer each day, it impacts the very direction we take in life. With Him, we grow and bloom in abundance!
Spending Time Wisely
This life is a vapor. Time ticks and the years evaporate before our eyes. Before you know it, we all look back and say, “where did the time go?” It may be cliche but there is something to it.
Accordingly, the dictionary defines time as the indefinite continued progress of existence and events in the past, present, and future regarded as a whole.
Just thinking about time and the depth of what it means can perplex even the most studious of fellows.
At any rate, for the sake of time, we formulated this resource to encourage and inspire the reading of scripture on a daily basis. So, with that being said, may all your time be spent wisely here on earth, completing the will of God.
In John, Jesus said unto them, “I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.”
It’s important to read the word of God, to know His word, to memorize His word and to share His word! Here are seven days of prayer to read over, ponder and study during the week. Enjoy and may God shine His bright light upon us all.
Day One of Seven Days of Prayer:
Matthew 6:9-13
9 Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Dear Jesus,
Thank you for giving us this beautiful prayer. Thank you for teaching us how to pray. Lord, we humbly ask for your wisdom and knowledge. Moreover, open our eyes to the truth and guide us on the right path.
Day Two of Seven Days of Prayer:
Joshua 1:9
9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
Father,
We know it’s Your heart’s desire for us to be strong and courageous. You are our rock and fortress, indeed, always with us. O hear our prayer O Lord and deliver us from our enemies! We trust in you and request strength and wisdom to make the right choices.
Day Three of Seven Days of Prayer:
Psalm 73:26
26 My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.
“O eternal and everlasting God, increase my faith in the sweet promises of the gospel; give me repentance from dead works; pardon my wanderings, and direct my thoughts unto thyself, the God of my salvation. Teach me how to live in thy fear, labor in thy service, and ever to run in the ways of thy commandments. Make me always watchful over my heart, that neither the terrors of conscience, the loathing of holy duties, the love of sin, nor an unwillingness to depart this life, may cast me into spiritual slumber, but daily frame me more and more into the likeness of thy son Jesus Christ, that living in thy fear, and dying in thy favor, I may in thy appointed time attain the resurrection of the just unto eternal life bless my family, friends, and kindred.” -George Washington
We respectfully share this heartfelt prayer written by our beloved George Washington. This prayer entry is found in his Mount Vernon prayer journal.
Day Four of Seven Days of Prayer:
Psalm 100: 1-5
1Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. 2Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. 3 Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. 5 For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.
Father God,
You are the creator and ruler of the cosmos. We lift our voices and praise your Holy name! Thank you for giving us life everlasting. Even in our sorrows we find your peace that surpasses all understanding. You are the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. Above all, we are your people, and we love you!
Day Five of Seven Days of Prayer:
Luke 8:17
17 For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.
Lord,
We know that we live in a fallen world and at times, on the surface, it appears that there isn’t an ounce of justice on the entire planet. Bestow your grace upon us and forgive us for our shortcomings. Lord, make our paths straight. We know that righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne and that everything hid, will be revealed. We humbly ask for you to restore all those who are hurting, spiritually lost and those who have been falsely accused! Clear their names! Take away the fear and anxiety that plagues us and strengthen us with the power of Your Holy Spirit. In Jesus name, Amen!
Day Six of Seven Days of Prayer:
Psalm 23:1-6
1The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
O Lord,
Thank you for your goodness and mercy. Your Word tells us not to fear, that is so comforting and powerful! Thank you for every opportunity you give us to walk in your light. We love you and desire to draw closer to you in all our ways.
Day Seven of Seven Days of Prayer:
John 1:1-9
1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. 6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. 8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. 9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
Father,
You are the light of the world. Bless us with your wisdom and fill us with your light. We put our hope and trust in your son, Jesus, and above all it’s in His name that we say this prayer. Amen!
Conclusion:
In conclusion, we would like to share Jeanette Martino Land’s beautifully written poem. We hope it fills you with encouragement and inspiration!
When Prayer Presides
By: Jeanette Martino Land
In the midst of work and worry
When you’re always in a hurry,
And your time is spent in giving,
Reaffirm that life’s worth living!
But if temptation comes your way,
Let prayer preside and guide your day.
When your joints are stiff and aching
And your heart is often breaking,
In the midst of joy and sadness.
Always praise the Lord with gladness!
For nothing takes your peace away,
When prayer presides and guides your day.
In a world engulfed in madness,
Be the candle in the darkness,
Share the love that you’ve been given.
Proclaim Jesus, now arisen!
With joy-filled heart, prepare the way,
As prayer presides and guides your day.
At last, blessings to you and your family for a prosperous and hard-working week ahead with plenty of time with the Father!
